SAHARA ST DAVID'S MARIST INANDA TWENTY-20 CRICKET FESTIVAL

Mr. Atul Gupta
Chairman & MD Sahara Computers

All eyes are on the Sahara St David's Twenty-20 Festival of 2009. Sahara was thrilled with the tremendous success and support the event received last year. The recent IPL T20 tournament in South Africa has made a lasting impact on the world of cricket. This format is fully endorsed by cricket-loving South Africans and it offers opportunities to young cricketers to demonstrate their skills, discipline and passion. We are therefore very pleased to once more commit our resources to the Second Sahara St David's T20 Festival. All those who participated in the 2008 festival had a most enjoyable time. We are confident that this four-day festival will be equally full of energy and fun whilst providing a platform for the development of cricket at school level.

It can serve as a spring-board for future cricket stars. It is our aim to offer opportunities to young cricketers, especially those from disadvantaged schools and backgrounds, to showcase their skills and talents. Sahara is convinced that this is a worthwhile social responsibility programme and we call on other big corporate houses to join us in this exciting and innovative venture.

The Sahara All Stars XI, which includes some of our finest cricketers like Graeme Smith, Makhaya Ntini and Jacques Kallis, will compete against our young budding talent. Hopefully, some of these young cricketers will quickly graduate to join the Under 19 national team.  The attention of cricketers, parents, sports administrators and lovers of the game will be focussed on the Sahara St David's T20 Festival of 2009.

Sahara wishes all the participants a wonderful time. It is our hope and aspiration that this festival will reinforce the noble qualities of unification and development, stimulating support for the game at all levels amongst the people of South Africa.
